Inspiring Design Collaborations: Diamond Oak Parquet in Alex Dauley’s WOW!house Room

This summer, the spotlight of the design world turns once again to London for the much-anticipated WOW!house 2025 - often dubbed The Oscars of Interior Design. Hosted at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, this immersive event showcases bespoke rooms crafted by some of the most respected names in the industry. And this year, Ecohardwood is proud to be part of it.

Interior designer Alex Dauley, known for her emotive, layered interiors, has created a room that is as soulful as it is luxurious. Her design, titled “Date Night”, is a bespoke, richly cocooning, immersive media space that celebrates personal freedom, emotional connection, and craftsmanship. Alongside an incredible lineup of artisans and suppliers, Ecohardwood is proud to contribute to the sensory atmosphere of the room with its Diamond oak parquet flooring in the deep, elegant Chiana finish.

Date Night: Clarity, Comfort, and Emotional Honesty

Alex Dauley’s “Date Night” is more than a room - it’s a retreat, a cocoon, a sensual, elevated space that embodies the quiet luxury of life after parenting. Every detail is thoughtfully considered. This room is a physical expression of a personal ritual - curated, layered, and designed to offer ease, escape, and emotional depth.

Long evenings unfold in soft cashmere loungewear, accompanied by soul and jazz, a rum cocktail in hand, and the warm scent of oud and spice. The room invites reflection and reconnection through tactile surfaces, soft lighting, and grounded materials - whether with a partner or in solitude.

“Every decision was made with feeling in mind - scent, texture, light, sound. I wanted the room to feel cocooning from the moment you step in, like a soft embrace after a long day.”

“There’s no drama for drama’s sake here. The elegance is quiet. The palette is warm. Everything is designed to hold you, not perform for you,” says Alex. “Design should always reflect the people who live in it. This space reflects me, but more importantly, it reflects what I believe in: clarity, comfort, and emotional honesty.”

The Story Behind the Oak Floor

“It took me quite a while to find the perfect flooring, but then I came across this Diamond parquet at Ecohardwood. I looked at the Chiana finish, which is rich and warm and has depth to it, and I knew that this intricate pattern paired with that finish was the ideal solution for the WOW!house space. I was so impressed by the quality of the flooring,” says Alex.

Chosen for its sophistication and tactile beauty, Diamond Oak Parquet offers more than visual appeal. Crafted by skilled oak artisans, this unique hardwood flooring pattern blends 3D artistry, oak craftsmanship, aesthetics, and longevity.

It represents Ecohardwood’s commitment to detail, beginning with oak trees from sustainably managed forests that have grown for over 120 years. The wood then undergoes a slow drying process lasting more than 30 days, followed by precision engineering and expert craftsmanship. Only high-quality, eco-friendly materials are used, ensuring the floors are as responsible as they are beautiful.

The final finish — Chiana colour — tells its own story. It's part of Ecohardwood’s Mastri Toscani wood floor collection, created by Italian colour master Enrico Piselli. This unique range of oak floor finishes is inspired by the nature and landscapes of southern Italy. Mastri Toscani means “Masters of Tuscany,” and each colour in the collection lives up to that name.

Enrico Piselli has deep Tuscan roots and explains, “I don’t create colours – I take them from nature.” His vision was to combine the natural elegance of oak with the emotional warmth of Tuscany. Each board preserves its authentic character, with visible wood grain, flutes, and unique lines that make every piece truly one of a kind.

Diamond Parquet grounds the space with warmth and subtle drama, setting the tone for the layered materials and moody elegance that define the “Date Night” experience.

“Over 100 people contributed to this room,” says Alex. “That sense of shared effort changes the energy of a room. It feels lived in, cared for, and deeply connected. This is how I want to see the future of design evolve: collaborative, generous, and community-driven.”

Alex Dauley is known for her emotionally resonant, client-led interiors that reflect identity and lifestyle with clarity and depth. Her studio blends form, function, and material richness in both residential and commercial work. Her portfolio includes the widely published South London Family Home, and she is the designer behind Soho Studio Brixton for Soho House. She has been featured in House & Garden and is recognised for her focus on narrative, atmosphere, and detail. Alex is a House & Garden Top 100 designer.
